Why architectural projects keep specifying 1.6m+ porcelain — and what to know before you commit.
Large format porcelain has shifted from a designer specification to a default for high-end bathrooms. The reasons are obvious: fewer joins read calmer, more architectural and easier to clean.
What's less obvious is the prep work required — substrates need to be laser-flat, adhesives need to be back-buttered, and installation requires a second tradesperson and suction frames.
When done correctly, the result is monolithic. When done poorly, it telegraphs every variation in the wall. It's not a format to compromise on.
