A transparent guide to premium tiling pricing in 2026, from bathroom renovations to large-format stone floors.
Tiling pricing on the Central Coast varies dramatically depending on the format of tile, complexity of set-out, waterproofing scope, and substrate condition. For a premium bathroom, expect labour to fall between $180 and $350 per square metre depending on tile size and detail level.
Large format porcelain (1.6m+) and natural stone attract a premium on labour because of the equipment, suction frames and second tradesperson required to install safely. Mitred external edges, hidden drains and book-matched feature walls add further labour, but transform the architectural quality of a space.
Waterproofing is typically charged separately and falls between $40 and $90 per square metre depending on system. Microcement, by contrast, is priced on application not floor area — typically $350–$550 per square metre installed.
The cheapest tiler is rarely the right answer for a premium home. The difference shows up in the set-out, the grout lines, the silicone joints and the way the work ages over five and ten years.
